I love this petticoat. I chose the black one. I’ve seen some more luxurious-looking petticoats, but I preferred this because of the price. It provided perfect poof under my swing-style dress. The length was perfect. Also, I am a US 2X and had no problem wearing this one-size petticoat. All these features are great, but that’s not what earned the 5-star rating. It has a smooth underskirt layer which kept the prickly tulle away from my legs. I wear hosiery and I was worried when I put it on that I would be fighting snags. Nope, the smooth underskirt adds a layer of poof AND protects your hosiery from snags. I plan to go ahead and get a white or pink one.

Sometimes you just need a slight floof. Not SUPER floofy but also not sad looking. This is actually the perfect medium floofiness. I’ve owned this since 2011 and I’m still using it to this day. My waist is about 31inches and it’s slightly tight on me but this is meant to be worn underneath dresses/costumes so it’s perfect. It’s fairly sheer so please wear underneath things. Or wear a slip under if you want to wear it as a skirt. This is a medium length, a bit above my knees (I’m roughly 5’3″). It’s very cute and very flowy. It gives really nice body to cute retro skirts and dresses. It really is just the perfect amount of poof. If you’re looking for REALLY POOFY, this is not it. I generally will wear multiple petticoats under each other to get the right amount of poof I need. Since it’s underneath, who cares, no one will see lol.Tip: sometimes I love the amount of floof but it’s a bit too long for what I need. I just pull up the fabric of this petticoat and safety pin it up all around for the length I need.

Measurements: Laying flat, from waistband to hem, the petticoat measured 22-23 inches in length (22″ if I didn’t mess with it; 23″ if I pulled it out a tad to makes the crinoline a bit flatter). The waistband, flat, measured 11.5″ across (so, doubling that, the minimum waist would be approximately 23″) and, stretched out, measured 22″ (doubled, maximum waist would be about 44″, however that would be stretched as far as it would go, with no give, and I don’t think it would be very comfortable at all). For statistical purposes, I’m 5’6″, 32.5″ waist, 45″ hips, usually a size 14 in jeans.Sitting at my natural waistline (keeping in mind that I have large hips and behind, and that my natural waist-line is probably higher than I’d be comfortable wearing an actual skirt or pants – I bought this to go under a dress), it fell to the top of my knee-caps. I was definitely nearing the “max” for a really comfortable fit in the waistband, but for my size, it was not uncomfortable at all, and it could’ve gone a few more inches and still been okay. I took a chance that it might be too tight, but I didn’t feel constricted, and I’m pretty sure I won’t have any problems wearing it for an extended period of time. The package it came in says it’s rated for 90-160 pounds. I’m at 180, so I think taking your measurements into account is a better idea than worrying about the weight limitations. That being said, the “One Size” measurements listed on this item (waist: 23-29″, hips: 34-40″, dress: 6 to 12) are kind of off. If those were legit, there’s no way I could’ve pulled it up over my hips (which I did, with no problem…or ripping). It didn’t seem too scratchy to me, but I plan on wearing a slip between me and the bottom layer anyway, so I didn’t pay too close attention. There’s a top layer made of crinoline-type material, and a bottom layer made of a slightly less scratchy netting material. Sorry, I’m not overly familiar with the materials used, except to say that, while other reviews have rated it as rather delicate (and I agree, no excessive tugging on it!), I would say that’s definitely a couple steps above costume-material. And at this price, I’m tempted to get more in other colors.Overall, this exceeded my expectations, especially considering the quality for the price. I was worried I might need two in order to get the right amount of volume, but it’s definitely enough for a low-key 50’s look, and I would even go so far as to say it looks exactly like the picture, volume-wise.

“This is one of those Amazon purchases I feel pretty nice about. I like vintage clothes and needed a crinoline for three 60’s era bouffant dresses I bought on eBay. Since one dress is black silk, the other dark cotton silk and the other plain cotton, I needed black and pink, ordered both and the pink arrived first. I’ll begin with size, because that’s the bug-bear for most chicks. I am 5’3, weigh about 140-145,have a 29″-30″ waist and 37” hips. This slip fit just right, comfortable at the waist, a little roomy in the hips, hit me slightly below the knee. I’m still waiting on the black dress as well as the cotton, so I tried it on underneath the silk cotton, which is a heavy material. The skirt is pleated. This slip held the fabric up just fine. It was not so poufy that I felt conspicuous, but it gave the dress a nice bounce. The scratchiness issue raised by some buyers is valid, although I’m not used to wearing a crinoline, they are what they are. I would just wear a basic slip underneath it. All in all, the pink was a nice investment and I am eager to receive the black.

It’s perfect! It came in earlier than expected. It’s one size fits all and it is plenty comfortable. I am 5’3.5″ and wear a size 28 in jeans if that helps at all. Some reviews said it is scratchy. I don’t really think so, but I also plan to wear it with panty hose and possibly a slip. Very pleased! It is adorable! :]

I was taking a dance class and bought this for an amateur performance. If you are serious about wanting something lasting, buy a better product. This one shriveled so bad after a wash, the material just isn’t soft. The ruffles became all wringled and still are. I did not place it in a dryer, but hung it to air dry instead. I did read another review that said to use plenty of fabric softer but I do that to my my clothes anyway. Maybe it will soften after several washes but I only needed it once. I still have it just in case as I could always use it for a 50’s Halloween costume.

I wanted a petticoat to fill the skirt of a cute retro A-line dress, and this would have been great, except it was HUGE. I am wearing the dress to a wedding, but the petticoat basically made the dress about a yard wide. It would be adorable if it were under a short wedding dress or a prom dress or even a bridesmaid dress, but for a guest at a distant cousin’s wedding, it was way too full and fluffy and attention-grabbing. If you want a big full white petticoat that goes to about the knee, go for this one! I am 5’7 and 165lb and it was the perfect length, and if I took one of the layers out, it would have been perfect, but I did not want to go through the trouble and decided to return.
